This practice-based seminar week experiments artistically with public space, its architecture, and its performative possibilities. We focus on the transformation of urban objects by rethinking what a kiosk can do—not only as a place for newspapers, but as a stage, a site, a gathering point, a sound transmitter, or even a mobile studio. Todo Modo's Edicola is more than a newsstand; it becomes an urban node—for reading, gathering, performance, and community building—serving as a laboratory for imagining how small elements of the city can shift meaning and provoke new forms of engagement.
Through an interdisciplinary approach spanning art, architecture, and performance, students develop four intertwined prototypes and speculative proposals along two axes. One axis is exploring how listening becomes active rather than passive by creating ways for the community to tell their own stories—forming a network through sound. The other axis is explores what a community node can be through activating the larger park environment and connecting it to the Edicola.
